About CheckYourQRCode

A free tool to see where a QR code leads before you go there.

How it works

  1. 1 You upload an image, scan with your camera, or paste a link.
  2. 2 We decode the code. Six decoders in sequence, from fast local ones to AI as a last resort, so awkward images still work.
  3. 3 If it is a link, we follow every redirect and check each hop.
  4. 4 You get a verdict, the full path, and the provider behind the code.

What we check

The whole redirect chain

Up to five hops, with status codes and timing. Short links hide the destination; this shows it.

Known threats

Every hop is checked against Google Safe Browsing, not just the first one.

The provider

We recognise the QR services behind dynamic codes, so you know whether a code can be repointed later.

More than links

WiFi credentials, contact cards, calendar invites, phone numbers and plain text are decoded and shown for what they are.

What we store

Results live in your browser session and disappear when you leave. We do not keep the links you check or the images you upload. What we do keep is anonymous: hashed and truncated signals used to see whether the decoders are working, never anything that identifies you or your link.

The details are in our Privacy Policy.

What this is not

A green verdict means we found nothing wrong, not that a site is safe. New phishing pages are unknown to every threat database for a while, and a site can be harmless today and not tomorrow. Treat this as one check among several, not a guarantee.

Check before you scan

Free, no account needed, nothing stored.
