CheckYourQRCode is a free service that checks where a QR code leads before you follow it. These terms apply to everyone who uses it.

Definitions

"The service" means the CheckYourQRCode website and everything it offers. "You" means anyone using it. "A check" means submitting a QR code image, a camera scan or a link for analysis.

Applicability

These terms govern all use of the service. No account is required and nothing is charged, but using the service means accepting these terms.

Permitted use

You may use the service to check QR codes and links you have a legitimate reason to check. You may not use it to test whether your own malicious content evades detection, to submit content involving minors, or to overload the service through automated bulk requests outside any published API.

No guarantee of safety

This is the most important term here. A green verdict means we found nothing wrong at the moment you asked — not that a destination is safe. Newly created phishing pages are unknown to every threat database for a period, dynamic QR codes can be repointed after you check them, and a site that is harmless today may not be tomorrow. Treat the result as one signal among several. You remain responsible for what you choose to open.

Availability

The service is offered as it is, without any guarantee of uninterrupted availability. It depends on third-party services that can fail or change. No compensation is owed for downtime, errors or missed detections.

Liability

Because the service is free and carries no guarantee of accuracy, liability for damage arising from its use is excluded to the extent permitted by law. This does not limit liability for intent or deliberate recklessness.

Third-party content

We show information about destinations we did not create and providers we are not affiliated with. Naming a provider is not an endorsement, and mentioning a destination is not a claim about its operator.

Changes and applicable law

These terms may change; the version in force is the one published here. Dutch law applies, and disputes are submitted to the competent court in the district of Gelderland.
